The most controversial TV show of the year is... going to skip the controversy this time.
Heathers, an update of the '80s cult comedy in which high school students murder their classmates and make it look like suicide, was supposed to premiere March 7.
But the Paramount Network (formerly Spike TV) announced on Wednesday they are delaying the adaptation "until later this year" in an effort to stay sensitive in the wake of the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.
The original satire film involved school shootings and even an attempt to blow up an entire student body. Based on the trailers, the new show likely had similar scenes.
Paramount, who also canceled the planned premiere screening in New York City, wrote in an official statement:
"Paramount Network's original series "Heathers" is a satirical comedy that takes creative risks in dealing with many of society's most challenging subjects ranging from personal identity to race and socio-economic status to gun violence. While we stand firmly behind the show, in light of the recent tragic events in Florida and out of respect for the victims, their families and loved ones, we feel the right thing to do is delay the premiere until later this year."
The show had already been stirring up some backlash -- but not because of the violence.
The controversy so far had been surrounding the decision to reinterpret the titular school-ruling mean girl clique from three preppy white girls to those who would have been on the outskirts -- a plus-size girl, a genderqueer boy, and an African American girl.
Even weeks before the show's debut, the move was judged by some to be turning the marginalized into the villains. And several TV critics who saw advanced screenings this week had agreed.
Hmm.

After revealing she is "8 months bumpin" on Instagram, the Revenge Body host is currently in Japan enjoying a "babymoon" with sisters Kim and Kourtney Kardashian.

Although it seems like KoKo is having a blast, she is also full of emotions, as she is down to the wire in her pregnancy.
According to an E! News source, the 33-year-old is "feeling great" and is "very excited," but is "also a bit nervous about how the delivery is going to go and all of the unknowns."
Luckily, baby daddy Tristan Thompson is doing a great job of easing her anxiety. The insider continues:
"Tristan is very reassuring and helps calm her nerves and makes her feel better... He is extremely positive and nurturing and she loves that she can go through this experience with someone so wonderful."
In preparation for their bundle of joy's arrival, the couple has set up nurseries in both of their Los Angeles and Cleveland homes. Additionally, mom Kris Jenner is "helping [Khloé] figure it all out."
"They are getting both ready and figuring out everything they need. Khloé has been shopping for baby gear and putting together details for her baby shower."
Overall, the KUWTK personality is just trying to chill out before the big moment happens!
"It's starting to become very real and she's so excited... Khloé is trying to enjoy her pregnancy and taking one day at a time. She's looking forward to finally seeing the baby and being able to hold the baby. She is hoping for a smooth delivery and a healthy baby above all."

Well, how about that.
On Tuesday night Sean Hannity and Tucker Carlson actually admitted to the thing they do constantly -- spreading bullshit right wing conspiracy theories.
In case you hadn't heard, the survivors of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting have been the victim of several ridiculous claims, including that they're actually just actors paid to play teenagers.

One such theory pushed by Fox News was that CNN had scripted the students' questions for their town hall meeting with Marco Rubio and NRA spokeswoman Dana Loesch.
Sadly, they were helped by a Douglas parent.
Glenn Haab, the father of a teen who submitted a question, sent out a doctored version of an email from CNN -- making it seem like they had provided their own question when really they were asking him to shorten the one he had written so more students could get a chance.
Hannity and Carlson, hungry for the chance to discredit the movement these brave teens have started, jumped on the story without proper vetting.
So when Haab admitted to having doctored the email, they were forced to make retractions, something you should savor as it so rarely comes out of Hannity's face anus. He said:
"Tonight Glenn Haab told the AP that he omitted some words from the email; he says he did not do it on purpose. Therefore what Haab told all news outlets last week was inaccurate. Our job is always to strive for the truth, and we wanted to correct the record."
Sadly, he didn't then apologize for making the false statement, "Our job is always to strive for the truth." But then he could have been stuck on that loop all night.

Carlson's admission was even more reluctant:
"There is no evidence, as of right now, that CNN tried to give Colton Haab a scripted question."
"As of right now." Implying there will be more later because by all means, keep believing the conspiracy. Ugh.
We can't wait for "fake news" hater Donald Trump to jump all over this as yet another example of the dishonest media not doing its -- eh, we're just kidding! OF COURSE he's not going to do that for actual twisted, biased reporting!

With all of the mystery surrounding Tupac Shakur and Biggie Smalls' respective deaths, we can't say we're surprised at the hype for USA's Unsolved: The Murders of Tupac and The Notorious B.I.G.
Not to mention, the show's stars -- Wavyy Jonez and Marcc Rose -- transformed from fans to "super-fans" while making the drama. As both parts were daunting ones to take on, both Jonez and Rose did A LOT of research before they jumped into the project. In regards to the music icons mysterious deaths, Marcc told Us Weekly:
"I heard so many different things. I'm not going to say I had a theory, but I heard so many different things that I really didn't know what to believe. You just don't know what to believe and you want to put your best judgment forward, but you want to also dig deep into the facts, and I think with Unsolved, that's what we was able to do. Just reading through the script, I was able to put so many of the theories that I heard — or a lot of the ‘he said, she said' and naysayers, to bed."
Well, well. We're certainly intrigued to see how USA documents this tragedy.

Ryan Seacrest is certainly a hot topic these days.
As you know, the longtime media personality is under speculation after being accused by his former stylist of sexual misconduct. As a result of the news, many Hollywood publicists are encouraging their clients to avoid being interviewed by Seacrest on the Oscars red carpet Sunday.
Jennifer Lawrence was asked about the debacle during her debut on Howard Stern on Wednesday... and she definitely had her fair share of opinions about E! and the American Idol host. We wouldn't expect anything less.

When Stern asked the Red Sparrow star if she'll steer clear of Ryan this weekend, the 27-year-old explained:
"I can't imagine him being sexual... Umm, I don't know. I mean there is a lot to think about with E!, you know? I have always had a problem with the Fashion Police. I don't have a problem with talking about what women are wearing. There was a time there where, they were just mean, about people's bodies, things you shouldn't say."
J.Law went on to bring up Catt Sadler's departure after not being paid equally to her male counterpart at the network:
"They aren't bringing another costar up. I have noticed that they keep cycling these women and I am going — that is just so you, is that so you don't have to pay another women equally to Jason [Kennedy]? Is this just a way to still maintaining that you are not paying women equally?"
And circling back to Ryan, she concluded:
"I don't know about the Ryan Seacrest thing. I think it is scary, you know. He has not been to trial for anything. I am not a judge. I am not a jury, you know. I don't know, that that, that is where this stuff gets tricky."
Yes, this is definitely a great point considering Ryan was cleared of any wrongdoing after an investigation. We'll be interested to see what happens on Sunday.

A Los Angeles jury convicted a self-proclaimed "rehab mogul" of sexually assaulting seven female patients at his drug treatment facilities after years of numerous allegations and lawsuits.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office said a panel found Christopher Bathum guilty of 31 criminal counts, including forcible rape, sexual penetration by foreign object, forcible oral copulation, and sexual exploitation.
The 56-year-old -- who founded and ran 13 Community Recovery treatment centers in Southern California, as well as 6 in Colorado -- touted himself as a mentor and father figure to the patients of his facilities.

He was anything but that, as prosecutors revealed he "preyed" on the young, vulnerable women who came to him for help with their addictions to drugs and alcohol.
Court docs reveal that he showered the women, mostly in their ‘20s and early ‘30s, with gifts like iPhones, the use of company cars, and hotel rooms. He would also hook them up with internships and scholarships to build trust.
This was all a grooming technique, prosecutors said, as Bathum would also supply the women with drugs, including heroin and crystal meth, as they battled addiction, and then would sexually assault them while they were under the influence.
The fraud, who somehow founded his chain of rehab facilities despite having no drug counseling license or college degree, would also get high with some patients and teach them how to beat drug tests.

But it gets even worse. Bathum's business was embroidered in at least 50 lawsuits over the years, being accused of civil harassment, fraud, and running a $175 million health care billing scheme.
In that case, Bathum and his former chief financial officer Kirsten Wallace are accused of stealing patient identifiers to buy health insurance policies without their knowledge, and continuing to bill insurance companies after patients' had ended treatment.
His more recent sexual abuse case included multiple lawsuits filed by his former patients, two of which claimed he would isolate and target them and other women, "moving them around to isolated hotel rooms and remote locations, encouraging them to use drugs with him, and sexually molesting them when they were high and/or incapable of consent."

Additional former clients that filed lawsuits include Amanda Jester, who claimed the rehab owner molested her during a meditation in a sweat lodge; and Dana Reardon, who alleged that Bathum gave her crystal meth and heroin, made her watch him have sex with two other women, and "forced his fingers" into her vagina "despite her protests."
Bathum has vehemently denied all allegations against him. His attorney tried to discredit the accusers during the trial, suggesting that the women were after his money.
The jury, however, disagreed. While Bathum was acquitted of a dozen counts and deadlocked on three others, he was found guilty on the rest of the 31 charges. He faces up to 65 years in prison and will be sentenced in April.

This was corroborated on Wednesday morning's Today show by an unnamed witness.

A woman has filed a police report against casino mogul Steve Wynn, claiming she had a child after he raped her in the 1970s.
According the Associated Press, the woman told officers that Wynn raped her at least three times around 1973 and 1974 at her Chicago apartment. As a result, she reportedly got pregnant and gave birth to a baby girl in a gas station restroom.
In one encounter, the woman claimed Wynn pinned her against the refrigerator and raped her. He then allegedly made a phone call, kissed her on the cheek, and left.

The complaint was filed earlier this month with the Las Vegas Police Department -- along with a report from a second woman who claimed she was forced to resign from her job after refusing to have sex with Wynn.
In the second police report, the woman told police she had consensual sex with Wynn "several times" while working as a dealer at the Las Vegas casino-hotel Golden Nugget, but "felt coerced to perform the acts." She claimed she was forced to resign in the summer of 1976 after turning him down.
The AP notes that the statute of limitations in Nevada is 20 years, which means the cases will not be investigated in Vegas. However, the rape complaint was transferred over to police in Chicago.

These are just the latest accusations to come out against the casino titan, who resigned as chairman and CEO of Wynn Resorts earlier this month following a Wall Street Journal report that detailed "a decades-long pattern of sexual misconduct."
Wynn has vehemently denied any wrongdoing. In response to these newest accusations, a spokesperson for the 76-year-old told TheWrap:
"These 40 year old stories are totally fictitious."
Might be time to get Maury on the case.

Meghan Markle has already bonded with her soon-to-be royal in-laws!
On Wednesday, the former Suits actress stepped out with her fiancé Prince Harry, Prince William, and Kate Middleton for their first official outing as a foursome. Clearly, Miz Markle has been accepted by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, as they were all smiles at an event for The Royal Foundation.

Not to mention, Harry and Meghan couldn't help but gush about their connection with Will and Kate. While discussing their plans for the first annual Royal Foundation Forum, the engaged love birds dished about the group's special bond. Harry noted:
"We have different opinions and they work really well [together]. Working as family does have its challenges; of course it does... [I think] the fact that everybody is laughing shows they know exactly what's it like. But we are stuck together for the rest of our lives."
Harry's fiancée concurred his sentiment, as she added:

Nonetheless, it feels like Meghan's been a part of the Windsor fam for a while now. In fact, she already has big philanthropic plans for when she marries Harry.
Following her May nuptials to the ginger prince, the American divorcée plans to "hit the ground running" with work in support of women's rights. Meghan even took a moment at the outing to shine a light on the #MeToo and Time's Up movements. The longtime activist relayed:
"I hear a lot of people speaking about girls' empowerment and women's empowerment — you will hear people saying they are helping women find their voices. I fundamentally disagree with that because women don't need to find their voices, they need to be empowered to use it and people need to be urged to listen.
Right now with so many campaigns like #MeToo and Time's Up there's no better time to continue to shine a light on women feeling empowered and people supporting them."

This bold stance directly contradicts the subtle support Middleton tried to show the movements at the BAFTA Awards. Although, to be fair, the royal family generally steers clear of political issues. As Kate is married to a future monarch, she has to tread a bit more carefully.
Also, a lot of Kate's work as a royal has been focused on supporting women's issues, such as mental health and motherhood. Thus, we're excited to see what this foursome undertakes in the near future.

Donald Trump is going to have a hard time keeping America great come 2020.
According to The Blast, Trump's slogans for his 2020 re-election campaign -- including "Keep America Great" and "Keep America Great!" -- have been officially suspended by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
Two days after he was sworn in as the 45th President, Trump's lawyer filed the applications for a slogan to follow-up the notorious "Make America Great Again" -- however, two people had already beaten him to the punch.
Andreas Mueller, Chief of Federal Policy for the California Military Department, filed to use the slogan for T-shirts and sunglasses in June 2016. Patrick Goux, a man from Florida, filed for "Keep Our America Great" 13 days before Trump.

The examining attorney on Goux and Trump's applications felt the slogans could be confused with Mueller's, so both were suspended.
Mueller abandoned the application in January 2018 for unknown reasons. (Did POTUS pay him off!?) Goux's application still stands, though we're sure the catchphrase king will find a way to strike a deal.
But in case he doesn't, here's a pitch: "Actually Make America Great This Time, Because These Last Four Years Have Admittedly Been A Dumpster Fire For Everyone Who Isn't My Rich Friends And/Or Closeted Racists."

In April 2016, Patton Oswalt's wife passed away at the age of 46 from a combination of prescription medications — including Adderall, Xanax, and the pain medication fentanyl — and an undiagnosed heart condition.

According to her posthumous memoir I'll Be Gone In The Dark released on Tuesday, the crime writer details the intense emotions she faced after having daughter Alice just two years after her mother passed away from complications of diabetes.
McNamara remembers "crying hysterically" after her daughter's birth, and "was inconsolable for the first two weeks."
While Patton told friends she suffered from "postpartum depression," she disagreed, writing:
"It wasn't new-mom blues... It was old-mom blues. Holding my newborn daughter, I got it. I got the love that guts you, the sense of responsibility that narrows the world to a pair of needy eyes... At 39, I understood my mother's love for me for the first time."
The author completed half the book before her untimely death.
Oswalt got remarried to actress Meredith Salenger in November 2017.

Once again, Ryan Seacrest is scrambling to clear his name.
Back in November, the American Idol host tried to get ahead of the allegations with an op-ed titled "What Happened After I Was Wrongly Accused of Harassment" where he outlined the claims and his participation in a two-month investigation which ultimately cleared him of any wrongdoing.
But on Monday his accuser, E! stylist Suzie Hardy, went public with her side of the story. She even detailed some of the disgusting behavior of which she accused him.

On Tuesday's Live With Kelly And Ryan, he was noticeably mum about the whole thing. Currently his positions on that show, the Idol reboot, and E!'s red carpet coverage of the Oscars have not been affected by the scandal.
However, later in the day, Seacrest released an unequivocal statement basically saying he wasn't happy about having to be on the side calling a woman a liar -- but he was going to anyway.
He wrote:
"Much has been said about the #MeToo and Times Up movement(s) and the importance of providing women and men with the opportunity to share their stories of workplace misconduct, in an effort to change our culture and the systemic inequalities that exist. I absolutely support this cause unequivocally and applaud all the brave souls who have come forward to share their stories.
Sadly, last fall I became one of the accused, which I promptly revealed proactively to the network involved and to the public. And to be equally clear, those accusations were then investigated by an independent third-party over the course of a two-month process and involved dozens of interviews that included me, the accuser and countless others. Ultimately, my name was cleared. I eagerly participated in the investigation in order to demonstrate my innocence because I know my truth, and I believe in due process.
Yesterday, Variety published a salacious story that revealed the specific claims against me for the first time – even though an independent third-party investigator found insufficient evidence to support the claims. Much to my dismay, Variety didn't speak with me or bother to speak with other credible witnesses or even ask for any of the evidence that was obtained during the investigation when offered, all of which clearly challenged the veracity of the claims made against me.
This person who has accused me of horrible things tried to buy her silence by asking for money on multiple occasions — I refused. I have worked extremely hard to achieve my success and I don't take my opportunities for granted. I don't want to accuse anyone of not telling the truth but in this case, I have no choice but to again deny the claims against me, remind people that I was recused of any wrongdoing, and put the matter to rest."
